GCCF 2019 Keynote - Family First Prevention Services Act
Family First Prevention Services Act, Wednesday October 30, 2019 from 10:15 am - 12:00 pm
Tom Rawlings, Department of Family and Children Service Director, and Family First Program Director, Shelby Zimmer
The Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) changes funding mechanisms for state child welfare agencies and creates a funding stream that allows states to pay for services to prevent removal to foster care. The Division of Family and Children Services intends to leverage these funds to support an integrated continuum of family and child services and placements to ensure safety, permanency and well-being for children and their families. This presentation will provide an overview of how Georgia is implementing the major provisions of FFPSA and the opportunity to leverage FFPSA for system change.
