2019 GCCF: A NEW PLAYBOOK FOR FAMILIES
How to Signal Your Team
Opening Keynote October 28, 11:30-1:15 pm
April Farlow, Speaker & Coach
Communication is an essential skill for leaders, and it is never more vital than in times of transition. Team members need to understand the reasons and vision behind a change to successfully move forward. As leaders, we are always visible, and we are sending signals to followers all the time - even when we don't realize it. Our body language, tone, and messaging must be congruent to keep trust on the team. In any organizational change, trust is important, perhaps even more so when changes impact the children and families we are called to serve.
April has spent the last 15 years motivating audiences to get out of their comfort zone, speak up, and represent their values. From the C-suite to the front-line, April has taught over 20,000 individuals. She has ranked in the top 1% out of 3,000 facilitators for Dale Carnegie Training International. April understands the impact of change in this work as well. After attending the Celebration of Excellence over 10 years ago, April was moved by the students she met who were aging out of foster care. In 2017, she founded a non-profit in Athens, Ga, Lydia's Place, to serve young adults who have experienced foster care and/or homelessness.
