Recognizing that “the best defense in any challenge is a good offense” Dr. Lawrence will explore with participants a range of ethical dilemmas involving such issues as confidentiality, informed consent, gifts, dual relationships and third party referrals. in lecture and small group discussions, participants will examine how to respond to a range of challenging ethical situations.

This seminar will discuss diagnoses frequently given to foster children, how trauma is often misdiagnosed, behavior following trauma, psychotropic medications prescribed, the current DFCS policy on foster children and psychotropic medications, treatment approaches, and the roles professionals and others can play in assessing, treating and advocating for foster children and foster/adoptive parents.

2017 Georgia Conference on Children and Families

The Georgia Conference on Children and Families is the largest annual interdisciplinary event in Georgia designed to bring together the community that serves children and families.
